Bathroom cleaners. We usually tend to use very strong detergents to clean our bathrooms, which is understandable because of all of the germs hiding in there. And let's not even mention the lime scale and dirt on the toilet bowl, which we use every single day. These things need to be cleaned with strong cleaning products to make sure they are sanitary. But all these cleaning detergents are made from dangerous and toxic chemicals, which can be very dangerous for your baby. They are dangerous to the surfaces in your bathroom sometimes, so imagine what they can do to a developing human being. To avoid using these cleaners, you can try a solution, containing half part water and half part vinegar. It will help you avoid lime scale if you use it daily. And for all the other surfaces you can use some baking soda paste and scrub everything with it.
Window cleaners. Most window cleaning detergents may seem harmless, but they are full of ammonia as a general ingredient. Ammonia is actually a very useful cleaning product, because it can remove even old and dried stains from your windows, which makes everything a lot quicker. But for pregnant women, ammonia can cause nausea, blurry vision and many more serious health problems. And the fumes from the window cleaning detergent can cause serious health issues on skin and lungs, if they are being used regularly. To avoid all these bad effects, I recommend using the same solution made from vinegar and water you tried for the bathroom. Mix these two ingredients in a spray bottle and then add half a teaspoon of some washing liquid. Applying it is also easy – just spray on the window and then wipe it with a soft cloth.
Oven cleaners. This one is not surprising. I don't know about you, but I often get dizzy and feel bad after I've used oven cleaning products. This is simply because there are many chemicals in there, because the grease and grime inside the oven doesn't come off easily. These oven cleaning solutions can also cause skin burns, poisoning and irritation to respiratory systems and eyes, so be very careful. I would strongly suggest avoiding oven cleaning detergents during pregnancy, because the risks are too many. Instead you can sprinkle some baking soda all over the inside of the oven and spray some vinegar on it. It will start fizzing, and most of the dirt will come off naturally. With a little scrubbing, you will be able to remove the rest of it. It's definitely the safest oven cleaning solution.
Furniture polish. Another thing we clean quite often is our furniture. But the chemicals inside these products can cause severe allergic reactions and irritation to practically everything they can get on (skin, eyes, lungs). So instead of using these dangerous cleaning products while you're pregnant, you can replace them with a simple microfibre cloth or a feather duster. And remember to open a window during the cleaning.
